The short version
Fly107Prep doesn't sell your data, doesn't require an account to use the free tools or the app, and doesn't collect any payment info directly — Apple, Gumroad, and Stripe handle that. We collect an email address if you choose to give us one, and most of your quiz progress stays on your own device. That's most of it. The rest of this page spells out exactly what, where, and why.
Information we collect
On the website (fly107prep.com)
- Email address — only if you submit it, via a study-tool signup, the daily quiz, or the feedback form. Used to send you study tips, the free 14-day plan, and occasional product updates. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Feedback you submit — anything typed into the feedback form, plus an optional email if you want a reply.
- License key — if you unlock the app with a Gumroad-purchased key, it's checked against Gumroad's verification system and saved in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter it; we don't store a Gumroad key on our own servers. If you purchase directly through Stripe checkout, we DO store the license key we generate for you on our servers (hashed, never in plain text alongside anything identifying) — this is what lets your study progress follow you if you open the app on a second device.
- Study progress, for Stripe purchasers only — if you unlock the app with a Stripe-issued key, your quiz scores and missed-question history are also saved on our servers (keyed to a one-way hash of your license key, not your email or name) so they sync if you use the app on more than one device. If you unlocked with a Gumroad key or a demo key, this doesn't apply to you — your progress stays device-only, as described below.
- Anonymous site-usage analytics — an anonymous, randomly-generated id (not tied to your name or email) that lets us see which pages get visited and which buttons get clicked, plus which channel first brought you to the site (e.g. a specific ad campaign or "came from Google"), so we know what's actually working. Never used to identify you personally, and never merged with your email or purchase record.
- Basic usage data — standard web analytics (pages visited, general location by region, device/browser type) via Google Ads and Meta (Facebook) Pixel, used to measure which content and ads are actually helpful. See "Advertising & analytics" below.
If you use the Fly107 Tutor (AI study assistant)
- Your messages and study context — what you type to the Tutor, plus (if you're logged in with a license key) a snapshot of your study progress and the specific practice question you're asking about, are sent to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI model) to generate a helpful reply. This is a live, in-the-moment exchange to answer your question — it is not used for advertising, not sold, and not merged with the analytics or purchase data described elsewhere on this page.
- Free (non-purchasing) visitors get a small number of free Tutor questions, tracked by IP address (hashed, never stored in plain text) so the free limit can't be trivially reset by clearing your browser.
In the iOS app
- No account or sign-up required. The app works fully offline for studying — no email, no login.
- Purchase / entitlement status — if you buy the full unlock via Apple's In-App Purchase, Apple and RevenueCat process the transaction and tell the app whether you're entitled to full access. We never see or store your payment details.
- License key (Restore Access) — if you already own a key from the website, entering it to restore access stores the key securely on-device (Apple's Keychain, via
expo-secure-store) and verifies it the same way the website does.
- Location (optional) — the "When Can I Fly?" tool asks for your location, only while the app is in use, to calculate today's sunrise, sunset, and civil-twilight window under §107.29(c). Your coordinates are sent to a public sunrise/sunset API to compute that result and are not stored by us or used for tracking or advertising. You can decline this permission and use every other part of the app normally.
- Push notifications (optional) — if you turn on the daily study reminder, Apple's notification service delivers it. No personal data is included in the notification content.
- Study progress — quiz scores, streaks, flashcard progress, and missed-question history are stored only on your device (local app storage) and are never sent to our servers.
Advertising & analytics
The website uses Google Ads (gtag.js) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand which pages and ads lead to real study activity, and to measure ad performance. These services may use cookies or device identifiers under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your Google or Meta ad-settings, or by using a browser privacy/ad-blocking extension — the site works fully either way.
Payments
We never collect or store credit card numbers or other payment details.
- Web purchases are processed by Gumroad or, for some plans, Stripe — both handle your payment details directly; we never see or store your card number. Gumroad's and Stripe's own privacy policies govern those transactions.
- iOS App Store purchases are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit, with RevenueCat managing entitlement status. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children's privacy
Fly107Prep is intended for people studying for the FAA Part 107 commercial drone exam, which requires applicants to be at least 16. The app and site are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Your rights & choices
- Unsubscribe from any email anytime — every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, or reply "STOP."
- Delete your data — email hello@fly107prep.com and we'll remove your email address, any feedback tied to it, and (if applicable) your server-stored study progress. For most users, app progress lives only on your device, so uninstalling the app deletes it; this only differs for Stripe-purchased licenses, which also sync progress to our servers as described above.
- Access or correct what we have on file — same email address, we'll respond directly.
- We do not sell your personal information, and never have.
If you're in the EU/UK or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or the CCPA (access, deletion, portability, and opt-out of "sale" — which, again, we don't do). Reach out to the email above to exercise any of them.
Data retention & security
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Feedback is kept to help us improve the product. Server-stored progress and purchase records (Stripe purchasers only) are kept for as long as your license stays active, or until you ask us to delete them. We use reputable, industry-standard providers (Netlify, Resend, Gumroad, Stripe, Anthropic, Apple, RevenueCat) that maintain their own security practices; no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't collect more than we need in the first place.
Fly107Prep is an independent FAA Part 107 study tool built by a certified remote pilot. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the FAA.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site or app after a change means you accept the update.
